Writer's Prompts | Love Unscripted | Two Guys, One Girl, Zero Good Choices

In the latest Alchemy episode, Two Guys, One Girl, Zero Good Choices, Tim & LeeAnna have fun with the tragicomic dumpster fire known as the “love triangle.” Sometimes it works, sometimes it implodes like a Jenga tower in an earthquake – and sometimes it’s just not well handled by writers. Here are two prompts to keep you busy, and maybe – just maybe – we’ll read your masterpiece aloud on the podcast.

Introduction

Writers, it’s time to sharpen those pencils, warm up the laptop, and prepare to make questionable fictional choices. We’re diving straight into the delicious chaos of tangled hearts, awkward triangles, and the emotional carnage that follows. Keep it under 600 words (brevity is sexy), send it to us at www.effigypress.com, and if it makes us laugh, cry, or throw wine at the wall, we might just talk about it on the show.

Writer’s Prompt 1: Write a compelling Love Triangle that’s really compelling, and not stereotypical.

Translation: we don’t need another brooding vampire, sarcastic werewolf, and indecisive girl-next-door. Shock us. Confuse us. Make us believe all three options are actually terrible and irresistible.

Writer’s Prompt 2: Write another “Love Geometry” (square, pentagon, octagon).

Why stop at triangles? Let’s see what happens when you add more sides and more bad decisions. Warning: by the time you hit octagon, it might start to look less like romance and more like a cage fight. We’re fine with that.

Wrap

So grab your metaphorical protractor and plot those messy romantic shapes. Keep it short, keep it sharp, and remember – love is patient, love is kind, but love triangles? They’re just geometry with hormones.
