Writer's Prompts | Love Unscripted | Love on a High Horse

Welcome to this week’s Alchemy Writer’s Prompt! In this two-part podcast episode of Love Unscripted, Tim & LeeAnna tackle once again the glorious mess that is modern dating. We all want a perfect match, but somehow, the available stock just never seems to stack up. You’ve been told about that amazing restaurant - 30 miles away - and when you finally get there, it’s... meh. Welcome to the world of dating, where expectations soar and effort feels wasted. In today’s episode of Love Unscripted, Tim & LeeAnna tackle why we’re all chasing the impossible and how we might just be overbuilding our emotional citadels. Plus, the Seven Concentric Citadel Walls™ makes a "triumphant" entry!

Writer’s Prompt 1: The "Perfect" Person Isn’t So Perfect After All

Your character's spent years crafting their perfect partner checklist - no one’s been good enough. Everyone’s fallen short, but they’ve kept looking, convinced that the perfect match is out there. Finally, one day, someone ticks every box, every last little one of them. They should be the one. But something feels off. They’re too perfect. Or maybe... it’s your main character? Write a scene where your character confronts their emotional walls, finally realizing that the problem isn’t being too picky - it’s the inability to embrace imperfection. Spoiler alert: perfection is overrated.

Writer’s Prompt 2: The Double Standard Date

Write your Mr. or Ms. High Standards. They’ve got a list longer than a CVS receipt about what makes a partner worthy - how they dress, their job, the type of pizza they eat. Yet when it’s their turn to be scrutinized, suddenly, it’s deflection city. Write the moment they get confronted about their hypocrisy - whether it’s from the person they’re dating or, in a moment of self-awareness, themselves. Turns out, perfection isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Quick Wrap

Remember, folks, keep it under 600 words, and if you send it in, we might read it out loud on the podcast! If not, hey, at least you got some practice in. Happy writing! (But also, send it in. We like free content.)
